Swiss photography collection
ARTEF’s focus is on leading Swiss photographers of the 20th century. Since its inception the gallery has built the world largest collection of Swiss photography.

International masterworks
Beside Swiss photographers the gallery has a fine selection of international masterworks.

ARTEF Gallery is dedicated to preserving the legacy of artists through its representation of artist estates, including Edward Quinn Archive, Jean-Pascal Imsand, Gotthard Schuh and Archivio Fotografico Xanti Schawinsky.

Active on both the primary and secondary market, ARTEF Gallery has established a leading reputation for promoting and exhibiting the work of Swiss artists, including Hans Baumgartner, Werner Bischof, René Burri, Hans Finsler, Robert Frank, Emanuel Gyger, Jean-Pascal Imsand, Herbert Matter, Emil Meerkämper, Xanti Schawinsky, Gotthard Schuh, Albert Steiner, Jakob Tuggener and Sabine Weiss among others.

The gallery acts as a consultant to major museums and public institutions and advises private and corporate collections. It actively documents the work of its artists through publications and stages research talks. We do a lot of research and identifying the history, provenance and dating of the photographic prints we represent. Alessandro is recognized as a leading expert in the photo material identification.

ARTEF provides value in quality and selection to collectors in Switzerland and worldwide. We help the beginning collector and we assist the experienced connoisseur and institutional collector.
